About the role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Director, Business Finance, Cruise to provide financial leadership and business partnering across Evac's Cruise segment.
This is a highly visible role at the heart of one of Evac's most important market segments. You will act as the primary Finance Business Partner to the President, Cruise and leadership team, shaping strategic, commercial and operational decisions through rigorous financial insight, constructive challenge and forward-looking analysis.
Working closely with Sales, Project Management, Global Operations and other business leaders, you will help ensure that growth is delivered profitably, project risks are identified early and commercial opportunities are translated into measurable results. You will engage directly with customers and influence pricing, project and investment decisions across the segment.
Success will be measured not by the production of reports and forecasts, but by the quality of decisions influenced, the reliability of forecasting, sustainable growth in profitability and the strength of financial ownership embedded throughout the Cruise business.
The role reports to the VP, Business Finance and is based in Miami, Florida, with regular international travel.
Your main responsibilities
Strategic business partnering and commercial performance
Act as the primary strategic and financial sparring partner to the President, Cruise and leadership team, providing insight-led support and constructive challenge on strategy and performance.
Monitor and actively drive revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, EBITA, working capital and cash flow performance.
Support segment strategy through market, customer, channel and product profitability analysis, directing resources towards the highest-return growth opportunities.
Provide insight, challenge and recommendations on pricing strategy, margin improvement and key commercial decisions.
Support commercial, operational and investment decisions through robust business-case analysis, including potential M&A activities.
Monitor the sales funnel and pipeline, assessing conversion rates, timing and profitability, and partner with Global Operations to improve demand forecasting and operational readiness.
Drive accountability across the leadership team for delivery of financial commitments and corrective actions.
Project controlling and financial governance
Own financial oversight of the Cruise project portfolio, ensuring percentage-of-completion calculations are accurate, auditable and consistently applied.
Challenge project margins and strengthen bid governance and pricing decisions to improve project performance.
Partner closely with Project Managers to monitor costs, milestones, earned value and forecast-to-complete estimates from order intake through to project close.
Identify margin risks, cost overruns and budget variances early, escalating clear financial analysis and practical mitigation actions.
Maintain a current portfolio-level view of project gross-margin performance against budget, enabling proactive management rather than reactive reporting.
Ensure appropriate revenue recognition, provisions and project accounting in line with applicable IFRS requirements and Group policies.
Act as the key finance interface for external auditors and internal control functions on Cruise project accounting matters.
Planning, performance and transformation
Lead budgeting, rolling forecasting and monthly performance reporting for the Cruise segment, ensuring decisions are supported by timely, accurate and actionable insight.
Drive forecast accuracy through stronger pipeline governance, project discipline, robust operational assumptions and management accountability.
Analyse performance against budget, forecast and prior year, providing clear explanations, recommendations and corrective actions.
Develop meaningful KPI reporting and financial transparency across the segment.
Participate actively in the design, implementation and continuing development of Evac's global ERP system.
Improve financial processes, systems and reporting tools and promote financial ownership throughout the business.
Contribute actively to the wider Evac finance community and help build a more commercially impactful and scalable Finance Business Partnering model across the Group.
How success is measured
Sustainable improvement in Cruise segment profitability, cash flow and working-capital performance.
Reliable budgets and forecasts that leadership can confidently use for strategic and operational decisions.
Stronger project margins, effective bid governance and early identification and mitigation of project risks.
High-quality financial insight that materially improves commercial, operational and investment decisions.
Clear accountability for financial commitments and corrective actions across the Cruise leadership team.
Improved pricing discipline, customer and product profitability and sales-pipeline transparency.
Consistent application of Group accounting policies, internal controls and IFRS requirements.
Increased financial ownership and accountability across the Cruise segment.
Your profile
A relevant degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline, together with a recognised accounting qualification or equivalent experience.
Significant experience in finance business partnering, business controlling, commercial finance or FP&A within an international industrial, engineering or project-based organisation.
Strong project-controlling experience, including percentage-of-completion accounting, project-margin management and forecast-to-complete analysis.
Strong working knowledge of IFRS and the ability to apply and explain financial and accounting principles clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
A proven track record of influencing senior leaders and improving business performance, rather than simply reporting results.
Strong commercial judgement and the confidence to challenge pricing, project and operational assumptions while remaining a constructive and trusted partner.
The gravitas and communication skills to engage credibly with senior leaders and customers face-to-face.
Advanced analytical, Excel and financial-modelling skills, with confidence using ERP, BI and data-analysis tools.
The ability to move effectively between strategic analysis and hands-on operational detail in a global matrix environment.
Fluent written and spoken English; additional language skills are considered an advantage.
