About the role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Director, Business Finance, Global Operations to strengthen financial leadership and business partnering across Evac's global supply chain and manufacturing operations.
Global Operations is at the heart of Evac's transformation, spanning supply chain and manufacturing across approximately 160 professionals globally. This pivotal role will bring rigorous financial discipline, clear financial insight and constructive challenge directly into this critical part of the business.
You will act as the primary Finance Business Partner to the SVP, Global Operations, supporting and challenging operational strategy, sourcing and investment decisions, supplier negotiations, performance management and working-capital improvement. You will work closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Procurement and Supply Chain leaders to ensure that operational decisions and transformation initiatives deliver strong financial outcomes, improved cash generation and sustainable shareholder value.
This is an individual contributor role with significant organisational reach. Success will depend on your ability to influence decisions and behaviours without formal authority, combining the quality of your analysis with commercial courage, strong relationships and credible financial challenge.
The role reports to the VP, Business Finance and is based in Espoo, Finland, with regular international travel.
Your main responsibilities
Strategic business partnering and financial challenge
Act as the primary strategic and financial sparring partner to the SVP, Global Operations, providing insight-led support and constructive challenge on operational strategy and performance.
Provide financial leadership for investment and sourcing decisions, supplier negotiations, performance management and make-or-buy evaluations.
Lead the financial evaluation of sourcing strategies, manufacturing-footprint optimisation, capital investments and major operational transformation initiatives.
Translate complex operational and financial data into clear, decision-ready insights and recommendations for operational and executive stakeholders.
Support the SVP and Global Operations leadership in preparing high-quality financial analysis and presentations for Group Leadership Team reviews.
Drive a culture of financial ownership and accountability throughout the Global Operations organisation.
Supply chain, procurement and manufacturing performance
Partner with Procurement and Supply Chain leadership to establish and maintain a structured cost-savings pipeline.
Identify cost-reduction opportunities, challenge targets, validate the realisation of savings and provide transparent reporting on progress.
Challenge procurement assumptions and supplier pricing using market data, historical benchmarks and cost modelling.
Support sourcing decisions and supplier negotiations to help Evac achieve optimal value from its supply base.
Provide financial leadership and support to Evac's manufacturing operations, helping to improve operational efficiency, cost competitiveness, inventory management and supply chain performance.
Work with operational leaders to deliver cost-productivity and efficiency initiatives and ensure that expected financial benefits are realised.
Planning, performance and working capital
Lead budgeting, rolling forecasting and financial planning for Global Operations, working collaboratively with sales segments and other functions.
Integrate financial performance into the Sales and Operations Planning process, ensuring that financial targets are reconciled with operational capacity, delivery plans and supply chain constraints.
Take ownership of key Group working-capital measures relating to Operations, including inventory levels and locations, Days Inventory Outstanding and direct cost-related Days Payable Outstanding.
Drive systemic improvement in working-capital management and Group cash conversion.
Provide accurate, timely and insight-led financial reporting, supported by the commercial narrative required by senior stakeholders.
Identify recurring risks and patterns of underperformance and work with operational leaders to address their underlying causes.
Finance development and transformation
Participate actively in the design, implementation and continuing development of the global ERP system to be introduced throughout Evac Group.
Partner with the data analytics team to move from static reporting towards predictive analysis, real-time cost tracking and more sophisticated cost modelling.
Champion financial understanding across Global Operations, helping operational colleagues engage with financial performance measures and cost drivers.
Act as a trusted finance resource for Procurement, Supply Chain and Manufacturing leaders requiring financial guidance, business-case support or performance interpretation.
Contribute actively to the wider Evac finance community, sharing best practice and supporting Group-wide finance initiatives and process-improvement programmes.
Help build a more commercially impactful, consistent and scalable Finance Business Partnering model across the Group.
How success is measured
Measurable improvement in direct material and logistics costs and manufacturing efficiency.
Delivery of validated procurement and sourcing savings.
Stronger inventory management and improved working-capital performance.
Reliable, timely and insight-led budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
Effective integration of financial performance into the Sales and Operations Planning process.
High-quality financial evaluation of sourcing, investment, manufacturing and transformation decisions.
Clear identification and structural resolution of recurring performance issues.
Effective financial contribution to the design, implementation and development of Evac's global ERP system.
Increased financial ownership and accountability across Global Operations.
Positive and credible influence on senior operational decisions without formal line authority.
Your profile
A relevant degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.
At least 10 years of progressive finance experience in an international industrial, engineering or project-based organisation.
Strong working knowledge of IFRS and the ability to explain financial and accounting principles clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
A proven track record as a Finance Business Partner to Operations, Supply Chain or Procurement, demonstrably influencing decisions rather than simply reporting results.
Experience in supply chain finance and procurement cost management, including direct material costs, sourcing decisions, cost modelling and savings validation.
Financial experience supporting complex international manufacturing, operations or supply chain environments.
Experience of budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, business-case analysis and working-capital management.
Strong commercial judgement and the confidence to challenge assumptions and ask difficult questions while remaining a constructive and trusted partner.
Demonstrated ability to drive change, shape behaviour and create accountability without formal authority in a global matrix organisation.
Advanced Excel and financial-modelling skills, together with strong proficiency in ERP, BI and data-analysis tools.
The ability to translate complex financial information into clear, practical and impactful messages for operational and executive audiences.
A proactive, hands-on and improvement-oriented approach, with the ability to move effectively between strategic analysis and operational detail.
Fluent written and spoken English; additional language skills are considered an advantage.
Experience of ERP implementation, finance transformation or advanced operational analytics would be considered an advantage.
