We are seeking an experienced Draughtsperson with strong SolidWorks expertise to join our team on a 6-month contract. This is a fully autonomous role where you’ll take ownership of mechanical design projects from concept through to production-ready documentation, working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks
Design complete mechanical assemblies with full tolerancing
Produce manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation
Ensure compliance with ISO, EN, and internal standards
Manage projects from specification through to final validation
Interpret technical requirements and propose design improvements
Liaise with production, quality, and procurement teams
Support prototyping and manufacturing phases
Drive design optimisation for cost, performance, and manufacturability
Provide training and upskilling in SolidWorks to the wider team
About You
Expert user of SolidWorks (3D & drawings)
Strong grounding in mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes
Confident working independently with full project ownership
Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
Comfortable collaborating across cross-functional teams
Experience & Qualifications
Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (e.g. BTS CPI / DUT GMP / BUT Génie Mécanique)
3+ years’ experience in mechanical design
Proven track record of managing projects autonomously
