An exciting opportunity has become available for electrically and mechanically minded Installation Engineer to join the business, and to support the Service Operations Installation Manager and technical side of our company.  

The company has over 50 years’ experience in the manufacturing of equipment for ships and off shore installations, including marine growth protection systems and impressed current cathodic protection systems.

The postholder will install, commission, service and support our systems with a world leading marine industry supplier.

The position will be working as part of a team, and requires both onsite factory and offsite work working on vessels within which the system is installed, including the possibility of offshore.  Most installations will require foreign travel, at short notice.

 

Purpose of Role

Installation, commission and repair of Cathelco/Evac systems, necessitating travel to vessels including overseas visits.

Arranging and carrying out vessel surveys and compiling survey reports.

Arranging and carrying out installations, commissions and repairing of the systems.

Efficiently manage health, safety and welfare of all personnel on board the installation.

Commissioning and hand over to crew.

Ensure contractual obligations are satisfied as a company representative.

Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, guidelines, company policies and procedures.

 Objectives and key tasks   

Assist the Service Operations Manager in planning and co-ordination with the Superintendents all installation and commissioning activities to achieve company targets. 

Ensure implementation of Company Safety Management System i.e. compliance with legislation, company policies, standards and procedures, monitoring compliance by all other personnel. 

Rigorously promote a safety culture where all personnel have an understanding of the Operations Procedures and Safety Studies. 

Ensure all documentation and certification is in order and up to date. 

Ensure compliance with obligations laid down in any Contract Agreement. 

Provide relevant reports to the owner’s representative as per their requirements. 

Need to travel and spend extended periods on board ships. 


Relationships Required   

Provide feedback to the engineering teams of issues and improvements from installations. 

Provide guidance to other members of staff at Chesterfield and communicate to the Line Manager any bottlenecks in the provision of resource. 

Liaise with other departments to resolve any issues with the day-to-day requirements in processing orders and suggest ways in which improvements can be made. 

Promote a good working relationship with yards, ships crews and Superintendents and ensure any issues are resolved quickly and professionally.

Offshore certifications (BOSIET) – desirable

Full driving Licence - essential
